Jonathan Cohen is a cruelty free designer who applied a strict sustainability and wellness approach backstage working exclusively with us to create the runway looks for NYFW.
The Designs
Jonathan Cohen splashed the runway in colour with a whimsical yet sophisticated blending of Mexican culture and Californian style. Growing up in San Diego, Cohen remembers a borderless time, it was "a beautiful blur of colors and cultures". Hitting NYFW with a Spring Summer 2020 Collection that embodies the fusion of traditional handcrafted garments and textiles with the relaxed beach vibe culture, Cohen was able to produce a line that celebrates the personal style of women everywhere.
The collection was focused on sustainability with skirts being created from unused fabric strips and dresses adorned in upcycled Swarovski crystals.
Cohen, in a post show address explained "We're really trying to be conscious of our waste".
The Makeup
Working with the high-profile fashion designer and lead makeup artist Yuki Hayashi, we created 100% natural and cruelty free makeup looks for the show using all INIKA Organic products. This year, the models featured polished skin with pops of colour. Lashes were kept natural and clean by combining INIKA Organic Long Lash Vegan Mascara in Black on the upper lashes and brown along the lower lashes. Using his bitten lip technique, Hayashi pats INIKA Organic's Certified Organic Lipstick Crayon or Lip and Cheek Cream to the inner aspect of the lip explaining that it emphasises their own natural lip colour for a healthy look.
The highlight of the makeup was the bright pops of colour on the eyes. The eyes were inspired by the idea of an artist in their studio, smudging the colours on their eyelids said Cohen.
